Ramón Bayeu (1746 – 1 March 1793) was a Spanish Neoclassicist painter.

Biography

Born in Zaragoza, he was the brother of Francisco Bayeu, with whom he worked, and Manuel Bayeu, also a painter. After winning a concourse of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando of Madrid in 1766, he travelled to Italy.

After 1773, he realized a series of cartoons for tapestries for the Real Fábrica de Tapices. He collaborated with his brother-in-law, Goya, to several commissions in Valladolid, Zaragoza, Valdemoro and Madrid, and executed several frescoes in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar in Zaragoza.

He also realized engravings reproducing famous paintings, such as Guercino's Liberation of St. Peter, now housed in the Museo del Prado.

He died at Aranjuez in 1793.
